Two distinctions during its annual Workshop

The Alliance for Research on Wine & Hospitality Management awards each year two distinctions during its annual Workshop:

The Auguste Escoffier Prize for the best presentation by a research scholar in the field of Wine & Hospitality Management

Georges Auguste Escoffier (French: 28 October 1846 – 12 February 1935) was a French chef, restaurateur and culinary writer who popularized and updated traditional French cooking methods.

Marcus Gavius Apicius is believed to have been a Roman gourmet and lover of luxury, who lived sometime in the 1st century AD, during the reign of Tiberius. The Roman cookbook Apicius is often attributed to him, though it is impossible to prove the connection. 

 

  • The 2022 Auguste Escoffier Prize for the best presentation by a research scholar in the field of Wine & Hospitality Management has been awarded to Nadia Streletskaya (Oregon State University, USA), Giulia Gastaldello (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy) and Luca Rossetto (University of Padova, Italy) for their research on :" Evaluating wine tourists’ preferences for post-Covid wine tasting experience formats".

 

  • The 2018 Auguste Escoffier Prize for the best presentation by a research scholar in the field of Wine & Hospitality Management has been awarded to Florine Livat, Julian Alston and Jean-Marie Cardebat for: "Are there too many appellations of origin? The case of Bordeaux wines".

The Apicius Prize for the best presentation by a graduate or undergraduate student during the conference.

  • The 2022 Apicius Prize for the best presentation by a graduate or undergraduate student during the conference has been awarded to Helena Sacha E Andre and Sofie Voss from Copenhagen Business School (Denmark) for their presentation on “Increasing sustainable consumer behavior in hospitality: A field experiment on vegetarian food choices in restaurants”

 

  • The 2018 Apicius Prize for the best presentation by a graduate or undergraduate student during the conference has been awarded to Romaine Christen from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) for her presentation on  “Climate change risk management in the wine industry: could diversification be a winning strategy?”
